Argiope keyserlingi spiderlings I am confident of the species of these spiderlings as I have been observing a female Argiope keyserlingi that has been at this location for several weeks. She disappeared one day and what I assumed was an egg sac was there. Then on this day, the spiderlings appeared.<br />

I am confident of the species of these spiderlings as I have been observing a female Argiope keyserlingi that has been at this location for several weeks. She disappeared one day and what I assumed was an egg sac was there. Then on this day, the spiderlings appeared.

    1. Good question. Within just a couple of hours of taking this shot, they were all almost gone. It was a really good location in that regard. We live on an elevated, exposed bluff overlooking a forest, so all of that lay before them plus uninterrupted range for miles more. Posted 2 days ago
      1. I once read that some orbweaver spiderlings spread by attaching themselves to a string of web and then let the wind do the rest. Wherever they land they set up shop, even if it's a bad place. Not sure if this is true of all spider species though, but it seems you live in a great place for this strategy to work. "Argiope keyserlingi" is a species of orb-web spider found on the east coast of Australia, from Victoria to northern Queensland. It is very similar in appearance to a closely related north Queensland species, "Argiope aetherea".
