  1. This is what happens when you leave a specimen (in my case a beetle) in a hydration chamber for too long without some antifungal agent like bleach in it. The entire insect was covered with this mold. The fruiting stems are from the top of the carapace but the whole beetle has a nice fuzz look to it. "Fuligo septica" is a species of plasmodial slime mold It is commonly known as the dog vomit slime mold because of its peculiar yellowish, bile-colored appearance. A common species with a worldwide distribution, it is often found on bark mulch in urban areas after heavy rain or excessive watering.
