  1. I take it that you mean "Arilus cristatus", which is the only US-based wheelbug. The current ID "Rhynocoris Erythropus" looks different and occurs in Europe only. I will correct it.

    I'm not sure what you used in the identification dialog but a generic term like "wheelbug" can lead to these kind of mixups. It's an ambiguous term that does not uniquely identify a single species. As a tip, it's best to use the binomial name of a species, which is unique.

The wheel bug, in the family Reduviidae, is one of the largest terrestrial true bugs in North America, being up to 1.5 inches, or 38 mm, in length. A characteristic structure is the wheel-shaped pronotal armor.
