Laetiporus sulphureus Also commonly known as chicken of the woods and sulphur polypore. This was a real treat to see and learn of such a mushroom.<br />

Native to Europe and North America growing on mature and dead hardwoods.  <br />

Laetiporus sulphureus is recognizable due to the vibrant colours and distinctive growth pattern. The shelves can grow quite large, I&#039;ve read growing up to 60 cm which is amazing. <br />

"Laetiporus sulphureus" is a species of bracket fungus found in Europe and North America. Its fruit bodies grow as striking golden-yellow shelf-like structures on tree trunks and branches. Old fruitbodies fade to pale beige or pale grey. The undersurface of the fruit body is made up of tubelike pores rather than gills.
