
leaf-tailed gecko Saltuarius cornutus
photographed on the atherton tableland far north queensland they seem to be able to adjust their colouring to suit the background even on grey bricks as when seen on a tree they would be very brown matching the tree perfectly to the point if they dont move theyre extremely hard to spot!

This species occurs in wet rainforest between Cooktown and Townsville in Queensland, Australia (Williams 2006). The area in which this species is distributed is approximately square 16,718 km.

But they are virtually invisible when on a tree even when you know your looking at one you still cant see it unless it moves...cheers. Posted 10 years ago
