Helichrysum formosissimum
A very beautiful helichrysum sitting below a rock band at the top of the Harenna Escarpment. An everlasting flower with white to pink flowers that is known at altitude from 1,800 ms. to 4,200ms. (here at just over 4,000ms.) Its feet roots were in wet ground from the incessant rise of the clouds and thus condensation from the Harenna Forest below. It is also known in the Rwenzori of Uganda, where it is found near bogs and can grow as tall as 2 metres and where its flowers have adapted to the continuous rains by closing quickly whwn in contact with rain drops.
