Cistanche mimii
I am so happy to report a new species found in Israel, described by Dar Ben-Natan & Dr. Chris Thorogood, and named after a wonderful woman, who taught us all botanics - Mimi Ron.
Previously identified as Cistanche fissa, Ben-Natan & Thorogood checked the DNA and discovered that this is a new species, and named it after Mimi Ron.

Cistanche mimii is a new species of Cistanche, discovered in Israel recently and published on August 2025.
A holoparasitic (achlorophyllous) herb, with a thick, glabrous stem, often lanuginose in the lower part of the inflorescence and immediately beneath, swollen and fleshy at the base. flowers are pale white-cream with yellow.
