Dirty Face
Australian Echidna is a solitary animal that burrows. When it is attacked, the echidna will burrow into the ground or curl itself into a ball using its spines as a method of defence against the predator which this one had just been before uncurling to reveal a dirty covered face

The short-beaked echidna is one of four living species of echidna and the only member of the genus "Tachyglossus". The short-beaked echidna is covered in fur and spines and has a distinctive snout and a specialized tongue which it uses to catch its prey at a great speed.

Thankyou, it was a fortunate opportunity, we were staying in a bush cabin and he was quite close to the cabin buried himself at first and then as we were quiet he uncurled. Posted 11 years ago
