Lichenomphalia umbellifera
photographed at onkaparinga gorge south australia and as best i can find online is one of the Lichenomphalia
Gilled Fungi
This is by far the largest group of the macro-fungi. It contains the familiar mushrooms and toadstools.
Gilled fungi can be found growing in forests, grasslands and even on dung and old bones. Some gilled fungi can be eaten, but many Australian species are poisonous.
Most gilled fungi species are referred to as Agarics, as they belong to the fungal order Agaricales. However, some species of gilled fungi belong to other orders, such as Russulales, Boletales and even Polyporales.
