  1. In Bulgaria this bug has been spotted for the first time in 1998 in the region of Bourgas. A couple of years ago I saw it in central Bulgaria. Today I made some photos in Sofia. I found them on a lime tree, Tilia europaea, in clusters of thousands. See the next photos as well. Posted 11 years ago

"Oxycarenus lavaterae" is a species of "ground bug" belonging to the family Lygaeidae, subfamily Oxycareninae. It is found on and feeds upon plants in the Malvaceae family, such as Lavatera, Althea, Hibiscus, and Malva. It forms aggregates to winter over, typically on lime trees.
