Mother Delacour's Langur with infant and 3 other family members These Langurs were relatively approachable by boat (see photo below) & during the day we saw a number of families totalling 50 individuals with what appeared to be a flourishing family life and they showed great social cohesion. Infants in attendance and well looked after. There are now believed to be somewhere over 300 individuals known in the world. The population in Van Long has quadrupled in the past 25 years, with poaching and habitat loss the main dangers to their numbers. Agreement had to be made with the locals to remove goats from the proposed Reserve area to allow the tree cover to recover. A viable new population of approximately 40 Delacour's was discovered elsewhere in 2016.
