Fungi in the flood
The colossal amount of rain and catastrophic flooding we are currently struggling through in New South Wales provides the perfect conditions in some places for fungi.
It was a community of separately spaced fruiting bodies, all covering an area of around 1.5 m.
I believe this to be Tubaria furfuracea, the scurfy twiglet. If so, this is an introduced species here in Australia.
Not exceeding 5 cm in height. The caps were no more than 4 cm diameter.

"Tubaria furfuracea", commonly known as the scurfy twiglet, is a common species of agaric fungus in the family Tubariaceae. It was first described by Christiaan Hendrik Persoon in 1801 as a species of "Agaricus". French mycologist Claude-Casimir Gillet transferred it to the genus "Tubaria" in 1876.
