Damselfly versus Spider I have a couple of dams on my property that I love to sit and wait for the dragonflies and damselflies to rest.<br />
 This was something I hadn&#039;t seen before, this spider was no more than 1cm long but he did an amazing job securing his dinner!!  I believe it is a Perenethis venusta spider but cannot ID.. I have a couple of dams on my property that I love to sit and wait for the dragonflies and damselflies to rest.
This was something I hadn't seen before, this spider was no more than 1cm long but he did an amazing job securing his dinner!! I believe it is a Perenethis venusta spider but cannot ID..

  1. It doesn't look like a Perenethis venusta to me. The head looks smaller, compared to the body and the legs are thinner and smooth, almost translucent.

    The damselfly is easier to identify, I think it is a Golden Dartlet (Ischnura aurora).

The Golden Dartlet is a species of damselfly. There are three described subspecies: "Ischnura aurora aurora", "Ischnura aurora rubilio", "Ischnura aurora viduata".
