  1. Can't say it enough, you're a true macro talent, Claire. I am stunned at how you keep sharing one jewel after the other. Posted 11 years ago
    1. Thank you Ferdy! I still have a lot to learn, macro is soooo hard! Posted 11 years ago
      1. Whilst I agree and know it is hard, your photos make it seem effortless. I know you only just begun, but the quality you're putting out is comparable to photographers with years of macro experience. I'm not just complimenting you for the sake of being nice, I really mean that. It's like you skipped 2 years. Posted 11 years ago
        1. Now I am blushing. Thank you. Posted 11 years ago
  2. My apologies, this spider was incorrectly identified before, but now I have a photo of both sides it has been confirmed as a Bark Spider, further research confirms the actual species:

    1. I just upped your moderation rights so that you now have all species management rights. You're now able to manually create species yourself. From the identification dialog, click "advanced", and then you see the new button. You should also see more options now in the moderation panel.

Let me know if you have any questions :)

      1. Gish, thanks Ferdy. It does look quite involved so I shall create this one tomorrow and see how I go! Posted 11 years ago
        1. I don't want to put any responsibility on you that you don't want, Claire. I'm just saying that you can, not that you should. Furthermore, although the species form is very long, note that only the binomial name, common name and description are required. Posted 11 years ago
          1. No problem at all Ferdy, I get so much out of this site it's nice to be able to put something back, I just want to make sure I do it right! Posted 11 years ago
        2. I see you just created your first manual species, and you did so very well! Posted 11 years ago
          1. Thank you, it wasn't so hard after all!

''Caerostris sexcuspidata,'' also known as the common bark spider, occurs in Southern Africa, and on islands off the east coast of Africa, such as Madagascar, the Comores and Aldabra Island. It is a nocturnal orb-web spider, the female constructing a large orb web some 1.5 metres across, stretching between trees or shrubs. Its dorsal surface is cryptically coloured with horny projections which aid in camouflage; legs are drably coloured seen from above and clearly zebra-striped when viewed from.. more
