  1. I tend to agree with your doubt about the ID. Proteuxoa comma is described as endemic to New Zealand and public observations seem to confirm this.

    Closest alternative I can find is Proteuxoa asbolaea. It occurs in Australia, has the yellow dots on the wing, white stripe around the thorax and banded legs. Let me know what you think?

"Proteuxoa asbolaea" is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It is found in New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.
