Here's a JungleDragon tip: if you know the name of the species on the photo, you can identify it using the "Identify species" button to the right of the photo. Note that this requires a specific species name. For example, "flamingo" is not specific enough, as this is a group of species.

    Species identification is important on this site, as they make photos more rich in context, and educational. I hope you're willing to give it a try.

The greater flamingo is the most widespread species of the flamingo family. It is found in parts of Africa, southern Asia, and southern Europe. Some populations are short distance migrants, and sightings north of the breeding range are relatively frequent; however, given the species' popularity in captivity, whether or not these are truly wild individuals is a matter of some debate.
