
Rufous Potoo, Mocagua, Colombia
One of the birding highlights of the trip. This potoo is rarely observed. It is much smaller than most other potoos. It's quite dark or appears dark due to the dense forests it resides in. To the naked eye, it resembles a large rotten leaf. The bird even sways in the wind to make the illusion more convincing:

The rufous potoo is a species of bird in the family Nyctibiidae. It is the only member of the genus "Phyllaemulor". It is found in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Suriname Guyana, Peru, and Venezuela.
