Amazon River Frog (Lithobates palmipes) I saw a few of these pretty big bullfrog cousins on the forest floor near ponds. At the slightest disturbance they would jump into the water and disappear. My guide spotted this one from a good distance and I snuck up slowly to get a decent photo. The Amazon River frog is a species of frog in the family Ranidae that occurs in the northern and Amazonian South America east of the Andes, with scattered records from northeastern Brazil. In Spanish, it is known as 'rana verde verdadera'.
