  1. I hope I have the species correct on this one but they do look very much like Geladas, if I am right then well done for introducing a new species! Where was this photo taken? Posted 11 years ago
    1. In the Ethiopian Simien Mountains. They are amazing animals with a big red heart and relatively tame, we were able to walk among them as they picked grass. Its a shame the picture quality is relatively low though! Posted 11 years ago

The gelada , sometimes called the gelada baboon, is a species of Old World monkey found only in the Ethiopian Highlands, with large populations in the Semien Mountains. ''Theropithecus'' is derived from the Greek root words for "beast-ape." Like its close relatives the baboons , it is largely terrestrial, spending much of its time foraging in grasslands.
