Australian fan palm
Fan palms are great absorbers of sunlight. Their large circular splayed fronds each up to 2 metres in diameter reach 15-20 metres into the canopy.
Few plant species are able to survive in oxygen poor waterlogged soil but fan palms thrive.
Their shallow roots allow them to absorb surface water and nutrients easily.

Licuala ramsayi, commonly known as the Queensland fan palm or Australian fan palm, is a species of tree in the palm family Arecaceae which is endemic to northeastern Queensland, Australia. It is the only species of the genus Licuala present in Australia.
