So you end up with species descriptions along the lines of "this new species B is very similar to species A, but its flowers are light purple instead of deep pink, it produces 5-15 flowers while the other produces 2-12 flowers, the leaves are on average 2 mmm longer and it blooms on average 3 days earlier".
