Spot-breasted Lapwing This approachable endemic, here seen around the damp areas on the Sanetti Plateau, the most extensive high- altitude feature on the African continent.  Here we were at 4,100metres.  More than 80% of all species found in this afro-montane habitat are endemic.  An absolutely wonderful area (just hard walking). The spot-breasted lapwing is a species of bird in the family Charadriidae. It is endemic to the Ethiopian highlands. A chunky lapwing of the Ethiopian highlands. Note the black cap, white eyebrow, black throat, and coarse spots across the breast. Found in both wet and dry montane habitats, including grassland, moorland, and marsh
