  1. I note this was spotted in 2015. Do you see many these days Ernst? I used to when first coming to live in Australia in '97. Now, sadly, not a single one for years. Posted 11 months ago

      I feel the same way and in the last 9 years or so I have found only 2. Also I do remember when I first came to Australia in 1969 I was alwise amused when I found one and friends told me that it was a Christmas beetle. Yes they were much more common.

Anoplognathus porosus is a cetonid beetl from Australia commonly called the Christmas beetle. Anoplognathus contains about 35 species in Australia and Anoplognathus porosus occurs along the east coast of Australia. They feed on Eucalyptus and normally aggregate communally on a single tree.
