In JoAnn's garden, sprinkled with early morning dew- I asked her what it was "An Aster..." It turns out there are many different asters and I am only guessing at the genus. It has been unusually dry here and many plants are wilting- but not these.

"Symphyotrichum novae-angliae" is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant in the Asteraceae family. It is native to almost every area in North America east of the Rocky Mountains, but excluding the far north of Canada as well as some of the southern United States.
