30_Ophrys_cretica For me this is the species:<br />
<a href="http://www.cretanflora.com/Ophrys" rel="nofollow">http://www.cretanflora.com/Ophrys</a> cretica bicornuta.html<br />
but when I add Ophrys cretica a different sp is brought from wikipedia (Cyprus bee orchid,Ophrys kotschyi). I don&#039;t think this is the one. However when I see this then I am in doubt:<br />
<a href="https://www.first-nature.com/flowers/ophrys-cretica.php" rel="nofollow">https://www.first-nature.com/flowers/ophrys-cretica.php</a><br />
It could also be O. ariadnae. See some insights to differentiate the species cretica and ariadnae here:<br />
<a href="http://www.orchidsofbritainandeurope.co.uk/Ophrys" rel="nofollow">http://www.orchidsofbritainandeurope.co.uk/Ophrys</a> cretica.html<br />
If is cretica then I don&#039;t know if I need to enter this sp/ssp manually.<br />
I need help to decide here! :-D<br />

  1. Regarding the first problem, it looks like Wikipedia considers Ophrys cretica and Ophrys kotschyi to be synonyms of the same species. You can test this yourself by visiting Wikipedia directly, when you search for Ophrys cretica, it redirects you to Ophrys kotschyi. JungleDragon copies this synonym relation, because it's usually what is needed and indeed correct.

Not this time, however, other databases show both names as seperate species, not synonyms. Thus, I've now manually untied this relation in JD.

As for which species this is exactly, not an expert, but this looks pretty convincing to me:

That's why for now I mapped it to the "main" species Ophrys cretica. We do not usually create sub species records for plants. Recommendation is to put subspecies info in the title/description of your post, this way it will still be found when using search.
