Mantled Guezera, Mother & infant enjoying the sunrise
These are members of the Omo Mantled Guereza, ssp - Colobus guereza guereza, one of 2 ssp present in Ethiopia; the other is the Djaffa Mountains Guereza (Colobus guereza gallarum) which is found in the South-east of the Ethiopian Rift Valley relatively close to Harra Lodge but which is rarer than the Omo.
The mantled guereza is a black-and-white colobus, a type of Old World monkey. It is native to much of west central and east Africa, including Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Chad.
