  1. This was on the Salkantay Trek, an alternative route into Machu Picchu. It's easily some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen (and I honestly enjoyed the trek more than Machu Picchu itself).
    But since I'm not an actual trekker, the 4 day 80 km route, with 1000+ meter elevation change every day was rough.
    I had my camera with me the whole time, but understandably didn't have much time for birding. This was one of only two lifers I had, but certainly a memorable one!

The white-tufted sunbeam is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It is found only in Peru. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forest and subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland.
