
"Balsamorhiza sagittata" is a North American species of flowering plant in the sunflower tribe of the aster family known by the common name arrowleaf balsamroot. It is widespread across western Canada and much of the western United States.

I did some research, but the information I found is somewhat controversial. It is about an endemic species known as the little or bush sunflower (Helianthus pumila/pumilus). Maybe the plants look different depending on the soil they grow on, but the leaves are smaller.

There is another plant with larger leaves and I think is is more likely the one on this photo. It is the Arrowleaf balsamroot (Balsamorhiza sagittata), but some of the common names also include sunflower.
