Halmahera Chattering Lories (Lorius garrulus garrulus)
This species along side other parrot species such as the White cockatoo and the Eclectus parrot are under pressure from the illegal capture to supply the demand in the illegal pet trade. We are trying hard to collaborate with the local Forestry and the villagers to see these amazing creatures as a source of income kept alive in their forests for visitors to see.

The Chattering Lory, "Lorius garrulus," is a forest-dwelling parrot endemic to North Maluku, Indonesia. It is considered vulnerable, the main threat being from trapping for the cage-bird trade. The race "L. g. flavopalliatus" is known as the Yellow-backed Lorikeet.
