Raja Ampat Pitohui, Waigeo Selatan, Indonesia As the name implies, endemic to the Raja Ampat islands. This is one of very few poisonous birds. Their skin and feathers are covered in a batrachotoxin, similar to poison dart frogs. They do not produce this toxin themselves, it likely comes from their diet of particular beetles. It makes them ineligible for consumption by predators, including humans.
