  1. How's that for a looker?!
    This is a pretty rare hummingbird, and Fundo Alto Nieva is the only place where it can reliably be seen in Peru, and only during a 3 month window out of the year.
    This was my fourth visit, the first during the "whitetip window", and I lucked out with this gorgeous male!

The rufous-vented whitetip is a species of hummingbird in the "brilliants", tribe Heliantheini in subfamily Lesbiinae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
