Yellow-footed antechinus - Antechinus flavipes This made my day. Looking out of the living room window and seeing this most interesting marsupial coming and visit our unit in our seaside suburb was the most exciting thing I’ve seen in a long while. It entered our roof and stayed there for about 2 hours. Not sure if it actually lives there. Antechinus flavipes,Australia,Encounter Bay SA,Fall,Geotagged,June 2024,Yellow-footed antechinus, eamw marsupials Click/tap to enlarge Promoted

The yellow-footed antechinus, also known as the mardo, is a shrew-like marsupial found in Australia. One notable feature of the species is its sexual behavior. The male yellow-footed antechinus engages in such frenzied mating that its immune system becomes compromised, resulting in stress related death before it is one year old.
