In a Prairie Garden at Pierce Cedar Creek Institute, where they are restoring a farm to a more natural state. I don't think this plant is to be found uncultivated nearby, perhaps farther north in Michigan.

"Geum triflorum", is a spring-blooming perennial herbaceous plant of North America from northern Canada to California and east to New York. The flowers bloom from mid-spring to early summer.
