Feral dogs are domesticated dogs that have escaped to the wild and have reverted from being domestic, they hunt or scavenge in packs, breed extensively and become difficult to manage. India does not have effective systems in place for animal healthcare and birth control. This lack of proper animal control measures has led to the unchecked massive population explosion. Feral dogs are known to become predators and kill wild animals, disturb the ecosystem, transmit diseases to wildlife, compete with them for prey, and also interbreed with closely related species. I observed this behaviour of feral dogs chasing and trying to hunt Blue sheep, that are not their natural prey when I visited Kibber wildlife sanctuary.<br />
