  1. A beautiful warbler of the eastern Med, this was the bird I most wanted to see in Crete. I'd found one on a hike a couple days earlier, but had only gotten record shots.
    And then on the last day, literally at the very tip of the island, I found this gorgeous male. Talk about a send-off!

Rüppell's warbler is a typical warbler of the genus "Curruca". It breeds in Greece, Turkey and neighbouring islands. It is migratory, wintering in northeast Africa. This is a rare vagrant to western Europe. The name is occasionally cited as "Rueppell's warbler".
