A flying fox colony is rather noisy and you can smell them from a distance,but otherwise they are very important in pollinating native plants .Yes they are not liked by fruit growers as they can do a lot of damage and eat a lot of fruit. I have had the pleasure in handraising 3 bats and found them just adorable.I am sure both of you would enjoy a trip to Australia just as we alwise enjoy our trips to the US. Posted one year ago

The grey-headed flying fox is a megabat native to Australia. The species shares the continent with three other members of the genus "Pteropus": the little red flying fox, the spectacled flying fox, "P. conspicillatus", and the black flying fox, "P. alecto".
