The brown-spotted locust, Cyrtacanthacris tatarica (L.), is considered a potential pest in the Sudan. Studies in its biology have shown that the average incubation period of the egg stage was 29.6 ± 1.2 days. The adult passed through 6 to 7 instars and the average duration of the 1st., 2nd., 3rd., 4th., 5th., 6th. and 7th. instars were 17.9, 11.6, 8.7, 10.9, 11.4, 10.6 and 11.5 days respectively. These results were a bit different from the findings of Johnston (1932) and the informations given.. more
