    1. Very. There were more moths upside down on the ground than there were on my sheet. Dozens of them. It was so weird. I can't figure out why they were doing this. I wish I had gotten a photo of them all. Posted one year ago
      1. On big yield nights during our travel sessions, we do see a lot of moths ending up next to or under the cloth, in the grass. In random positions and settling there. I don't remember though them being structurally upside down. Almost a play-dead response. Posted one year ago
        1. It made me think they were playing dead. But, I don't know why they would do that without there being a threat. I wasn't even outside when they did this. When I did walk out, I was shocked by the dozens on the ground, belly-up. I was using a new light, so maybe that was an issue. I have no idea. Posted one year ago

"Orthosia hibisci", the speckled green fruitworm moth, is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It is found in most of North America, except in desert regions. The habitat consists of moist forests, riparian, agricultural and urban areas.
