Caltha palustris 2024-04-11 SW Michigan USA Growing in black muck next to a small creek. I brought this back to photograph in comfort inside, which was a mistake. The poor flower started to wilt almost immediately after removal from the plastic container. Hopefully I'll get another chance this spring. 1. Still very pretty, though. They are a sure sign of spring! I saw some earlier this week, but rushed a photo and it came out terrible, lol. Posted one year ago

"Caltha palustris", known as marsh-marigold and kingcup, is a small to medium size perennial herbaceous plant of the buttercup family, native to marshes, fens, ditches and wet woodland in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It flowers between April and August, dependent on altitude and latitude, but occasional flowers may occur at other times.
