Avena clauda in a field of about 50,000 square meters full of olive trees and Avena sativa, we were told someone found the very rare and endangered Avena clauda... so we searched. <br />
after a l..o..n..g time, I found it!!!! first time I get excited over a grass (of the Poaceae)... <br />
its distinguishing characteristic is the glumes - one is about half the length of the other. <br />

Avena clauda is an annual plant in the Poaceae family. It is smaller than the common Avena sativa. its glumes have different length - one is about 2/3 of the other. Plant is 20-60 cm tall, small spikelets - about 2 cm long.
