Acer rubrum 2024-03-16 SW Michigan USA Male red maple flower- the red maples were flowering profusely then, but mostly quite high off the ground. Found this on a small tree with flowering branches within my reach, on the edge of the woods. I tried to find a female flower, examining perhaps a dozen similar small trees, without success. Do the females favor large trees, out of my reach? I would think that the timing of male and female flower emergence would be similar.
