Violet-crowned Hummingbird or Leucolia violiceps I had a very funny experience with a birder who pointed across the creek and said, “look there is one. I said where? Look up high on the top of the small branch and you will see a small white patch of the bird’s chest.” Indeed, as I scanned the area with my 600mm lens I did see a tiny little bird. Even with my big lens it was still just a speck. This image is enlarged so that is why it is so fuzzy. The violet-crowned hummingbird is a hummingbird in the "emeralds", tribe Trochilini of subfamily Trochilinae. It is found in Mexico and the southwestern United States.
