  1. Now this little cutie is one of the birds I most wanted to see on this trip! As it turns out, they are much more skulking and difficult to get out on the open than their northern cousin, of which I got a lovely photo last year.
    In the end I managed this decent photo, but this is a juvenile.

Des Murs's wiretail is a small passerine bird of southern South America which belongs to the ovenbird family Furnariidae. Molecular phylogenetics places it within the Synallaxinae and indicates that the genus diverged from the "Leptasthenura" about 14-15 million years ago.
