  1. Can you believe this is a Solanaceae, i.e. a potato relative?
    I'd never even heard of that lovely genus, apparently called Maripositas (small butterflies in Spanish), or poor man's orchids! Even more remarkable, they are all (at least 15 species) endemic to central Chile. I'll have to go back to do some herborizing...

Schizanthus grahamii, the aptly named Bright Pink Chilean Butterfly Flower. Like all members of its genus, it is endemic to Chile.
