    1. These are really tough plants! It's kind of wild to drive through these completely barren sandy expanses of the Atacama and suddenly find a plain that probably receives more coastal fog, where thousands of these bromeliads grow. There is an endemic lizard that lives among these, but I unfortunately didn't find it :/ Posted one year ago

Tillandsia marconae is a terrestrial bromeliad that grows in the Atacama desert, with a very small range spanning the border between Peru and Chile.
