Galottia stehlinii (Lacerta stehlinii)
On Gran Canaria the large lizard Galottia stehlinii is quite common, but it is so shy that you hardly ever see it within photographing distance. When I came around a corner, I suddenly saw this adult Galottia Stehlinii in front of me at a wallfoot. I only was able to take one picture, then he was gone.

The Gran Canaria giant lizard is a species of lizard in the Lacertidae family that grows to lengths up to 80 cm. It is endemic to Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands of Spain. Its natural habitats are temperate shrubland, Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, rocky areas, rocky shores, and pastureland.
