I was lucky to get both the pose and the lighting. I had found the owl in another tree earlier when the sky was overcast and the lighting flat and overblown. Then it flew to another tree about 40 ft away. About the same time the late afternoon sun started peaking through the clouds. I worked my way around to get a better vantage point and sight line through the myriad of branches. As I got there it turned to look in my direction and I got this shot. Posted one year ago
