    1. Wow Ernst, that is fascinating! I'm in contact with Rob de Vos, a leading expert in Papua Moths whom is also interested in this moth and suspected it might be undescribed. I'll update him with your assessment, to me it indeed looks like that genus, likely specifically Barantola pulcherrima.

      A pretty bizarre case of co-evolution if these genuses are disconnected?

        Barantola pulcherrima is a moth in the family Depressariidae. It was described by Francis Walker in 1864. It is found in New Guinea and Australia, where it has been recorded from Queensland and New South Wales. The wingspan is about 15 mm. Wikipedia
