Red-Shouldered Stick Insect - Tropidoderus rhodomus
photographed at rubyvale central queensland this large phasmid or leafy stick insect also has a set of purplish membrane wings ,he was happy to hang around on this frangipani tree in the rubyvale caravan park alongside our site for a few snaps ...having never seen one before i was quite amazed when he suddenly spread his wings and flew away, queensland has an amazing diversity of wildlife and so many insects to see!
Note : ID corrected/edited from spur legged phasmid, Didymuria violescens to Red-Shouldered Stick Insect - Tropidoderus rhodomus, and this is a female, not a male.
