  4. Sergio112358, do you know the host plant for this butterfly? One was recently spotted at Rancho Primavera, El Tuito, Jalisco, Mexico. This is where I live. Posted one year ago
    1. Hi Sheryl. The individual on the photo is foraging on Ixora coccinea (Rubiaceae), a common ornamental plant native to India but widely cultivated in Venezuela and other places. I am not aware of any other host plants for this butterfly, but I can do some research. Posted one year ago

"Lasaia agesilas" is a metalmark butterfly. The species was first described by Pierre André Latreille in 1809. It is native to Central America and the north of South America. It ranges from Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Trinidad, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Guyana, to the Brazilian Amazon.
